I wanted to share a really cool and easy DIY art tutorial with you today. The process couldn’t be any easier. In fact, it’s so easy that I created two extra sets so that you can have one too! After the short tutorial below, there will an easy to enter giveaway! Yay!
This little art project started with the pulled apart remains from my DIY Geode Specimen Art. While I loved that piece, it was a large frame and I never found a happy home for it. With the recent addition of a bright pink rug and a pink ukulele in our living room, I wanted to continue the color in a few other places.
It’s so easy to whip up! I bought inexpensive shadow box frames from the dollar store and disassembled them. Using one of the included pieces as a guide, I cut out pieces of poster board (also from the dollar store) to fit the frame.
Then using either hot glue or double sided tape (hot glue especially for the heavier slices), attach the *Agate Slices to the poster board. You can either spray paint the frames before reassembling, or simply reassemble.
They look so pretty and are such a fun pop with the brighter colors! Eventually they will sit on the fireplace mantle (I’m determined to have one very soon!). I’m enjoying my own trio of framed agate slices so much that I wanted you to have one too!
Because the slices come in an assortment of colors, I have a set of blue toned slices and warm neutral slices for you to choose from. Use the easy widget below to enter to win either set for yourself! I’m happy I have the opportunity to share one of my little creations with you!
